Salary Range: $115,000 to $175,000 per year depending on relevant professional skills and experience. Total compensation includes a competitive salary, cash and strategic incentives, professional development and comprehensive benefits.

Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience with Bachelor's, 3+ with Master's or none with a PhD

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Security: Current / active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph or willingness to take one. Background investigation required, including a minimum of a criminal and credit check as well as at least three professional references.

Role Overview: Pelagic AI is seeking a Database Engineer with experience in database performance optimization, configuration management, and performance testing to support our ongoing efforts to improve and maintain efficient database systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our databases, helping us to identify inefficiencies, optimize configurations, and introduce performance testing practices to prevent regressions.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving inefficiencies

• Ensure database configurations are properly managed through configuration management (CM) practices

• Implement and manage performance testing tools, such as JMeter or alternatives, to prevent performance regressions

• Collaborate with software and system engineers to ensure optimal integration and performance of the database systems

• Support proactive database performance monitoring and troubleshooting

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to pass a CI polygraph

• Ability to work in both classified and unclassified environments on location 5 days a week

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree)

• 5+ years of experience in database engineering, database performance optimization, and configuration management

• Strong understanding of database technologies and systems

• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or similar alternatives

• Experience with version control systems for managing database configurations

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Postgres, Mongo databases, Liquibase and SQL queries

• Experience with Java, SpringBoot, and Hibernate

An Excellent Candidate for this position will meet most of the following experience requirements:

• Experience with automated testing

• Proficient in identifying database inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions

• Understanding of regression testing and performance monitoring tools

• Ability to work in both classified and unclassified environments
