Job Description
DO NOT CONTACT OUTSIDE OF UPWORK. Read the post thoroughly and ensure that the questions below are answered in the proposal. Failure to follow these instructions will automatically disqualify you and/or your company for future work with our company.
We are looking for a highly experienced WordPress developer (or team) to help us audit, fix, and optimize an existing e-commerce website. The site is built using WooCommerce, WPML, and Elementor, with a significant level of customization. We are facing issues related to consistency, performance, and maintainability, and we need a professional who can not only identify and solve these problems but also provide a scalable, long-term solution for maintaining the site.
If you’ve worked on complex, highly customized WordPress sites before, know Elementor inside out, and understand how to balance functionality, performance, and clean code, this could be a great fit.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Audit:
- Identify inconsistencies in design, functionality, and overall user experience.
- Analyze the existing plugin setup to identify redundant or conflicting plugins.
- Check for issues related to WooCommerce, WPML, Elementor, and other custom integrations.
Fixing Issues:
- Resolve identified issues (bugs, inconsistencies, broken functionalities, etc.).
- Ensure compatibility with WPML for multilingual functionality.
- Streamline WooCommerce settings and improve the checkout experience.
- Address Elementor-specific issues, including design inconsistencies and performance.
Optimization:
- Improve site speed and overall performance (both front-end and back-end).
- Propose solutions for minimizing plugin dependency while ensuring required functionality.
- Optimize Elementor for performance, including reducing DOM size and unnecessary assets.
- Optimize database and server settings for better performance.
Environment Setup & Deployment:
- Work with proper development environments (dev, staging, production) to ensure zero downtime during updates.
- Set up a clean deployment process, including version control (Git preferred).
- Provide documentation on changes made and future maintenance guidelines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with WooCommerce, WPML, and Elementor on highly customized WordPress sites
- Strong understanding of Elementor performance optimization (CSS, JS, assets loading)
- Ability to audit and clean up plugin usage to reduce bloat
Experience with setting up development environments and version control workflows
- Strong communication skills: We need someone who can keep us updated throughout the project
-Attention to detail: This website represents a brand, and consistency is critical
Bonus Skills:
- Experience working with multilingual SEO
- Familiarity with custom theme development and child themes
- Ability to recommend scalable solutions for ongoing maintenance
What We’re Looking For:
We want someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality work. If you’ve ever taken over a poorly built WordPress site, cleaned it up, and delivered a rock-solid final product, we want to hear from you. This is not a one-off gig; we’re hoping to find someone we can trust for ongoing work and support.
When applying, please include:
- Examples of highly customized WooCommerce/WordPress sites you’ve worked on (especially with Elementor)
- A brief overview of your approach to auditing and optimizing a WordPress site
- Your preferred tools and process for setting up development/staging environments
- Any experience you have with multilingual (WPML) sites
We’re excited to find the right partner who can help us take this website to the next level!
