Project Description:

Best Buy is looking for an experienced full stack developer to work with us on a contract basis. The developer will be responsible for creating high-quality, inner-sourced library components that partner teams integrate into BestBuy.com and the Best Buy mobile app. The developer will work with cross-functional teams to deliver digital experiences aimed at improving customer engagement.

Position Summary/Job Description:

As a full stack developer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality experiences to customers. You will work closely with our product partners to engineer solutions and implement them. You will be fully empowered to deliver your work from requirements to production.
• Develop and maintain web and mobile applications using React.js, React Native, and TypeScript.
• Write high-quality unit tests to ensure robust and reliable code, using tools such as Jest and React Testing Library.
• Implement server-side logic using Express.js and write appropriate integration tests.
• Have experience conducting visual testing with tools such as Cypress.
• Leverage GraphQL and Apollo Client for efficient data fetching and state management.
• Deliver high-value code from ideation to production, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, status updates, and retrospectives.
• Use JIRA to create, manage, and organize work tasks effectively.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.

What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for?
• Candidates that have written User Interface (UI) libraries, or have made significant contributions to a UI library, would be a plus.
• Candidates with experience migrating REST APIs to GraphQL would be a plus.
• Candidates with experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) would be a plus.

Interview Process Overview:

The interview will consist of a panel discussion among one or more engineering managers, technical leads, and product manager. The candidate will be expected to answer technical questions and perform a comprehensive coding examination. The entire interview is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.
