Job Description

We need to improve our site speed. We have the following recommendations. Answer our question and tell us 1)if any of the recommendations are wrong, and 2) what else you would do to improve.

1. Eliminate Render-Blocking Resources

• Issue: Certain CSS and JavaScript files are preventing your page from displaying content promptly.

• Solution: Implement techniques such as asynchronous loading or deferring non-critical scripts. Inline essential CSS directly into the HTML to reduce external file requests.

2. Properly Size Images

• Issue: Images on your site are larger than necessary, leading to increased load times.

• Solution: Resize images to appropriate dimensions and compress them using tools or plugins to reduce file sizes without compromising quality.

3. Enable Text Compression

• Issue: Text-based resources like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files are not compressed, resulting in larger file sizes.

• Solution: Activate compression methods such as Gzip or Brotli on your web server to reduce the size of these files during transmission.

4. Leverage Browser Caching

• Issue: Static resources are not cached, causing browsers to reload them with every visit.

• Solution: Configure your server to set appropriate caching headers, allowing browsers to store and reuse resources for subsequent visits.

5. Minify CSS, JavaScript, and HTML

• Issue: Your code contains unnecessary spaces, comments, and formatting, increasing file sizes.

• Solution: Use minification tools to remove redundant elements from your code, resulting in smaller file sizes and faster load times.

6. Reduce Server Response Time

• Issue: The time taken for your server to respond is longer than recommended.

• Solution: Optimize your server’s performance by upgrading hosting plans, optimizing databases, or implementing content delivery networks (CDNs) to distribute content more efficiently.

7. Remove Unused CSS and JavaScript

• Issue: There are CSS and JavaScript files loaded on your site that are not utilized, adding unnecessary weight.

• Solution: Audit your code to identify and eliminate unused CSS and JavaScript, ensuring only essential code is loaded.

8. Use Next-Gen Image Formats

• Issue: Images are in traditional formats like JPEG or PNG, which may not be as efficient as newer formats.

• Solution: Convert images to modern formats like WebP or AVIF, which offer better compression and quality.
