POSITION: Lead Cloud Architect (Azure)
LOCATION: Charlotte, NC 28217 (Hybrid 3 times per week)
PAY RANGE: $90.00 - $95.00 per hour
DURATION: 6-Month Contract-To-Hire (100% Career Role)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• 10+ years of professional experience providing SME level expertise in designing & Architecting Azure Cloud Data Platforms.
• At least 2+ years of recent/professional Team Leadership experience, including managing the growth, development, progress and performance of direct reports.
• Strong experience with Azure Cloud Services (Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, AAS, Data Lake, Delta Lake, ADLS, etc.).
• Must have experience in designing and architecting solutions that leverage Databricks.
• Experience integrating Microsoft Power BI with Azure Platforms.
• Advanced knowledge in designing and architecting solutions that comply with data security industry standards and regulations, including RBAC, data encryption (GDPR, PCI, etc.), and monitoring.
• Experience with IaC and Automation/Scripting tools including Terraform, YAML, PowerShell, Bash, Shell, Python, PySpark, T-SQL, etc.
• Must have prior Retail Industry/Sector experience.
PLUSSES:

SUMMARY:
A top Insight Global client in the retail industry is looking to hire a Lead Azure Cloud Architect! As the Lead Azure Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for leading the design, delivery and maintenance of Azure Cloud Platforms and Azure Data Services (i.e. Databricks.). You will provide leadership to team members on Azure platform usage, including best practices for architecture, cost optimization, and performance tuning. Your work will focus on optimizing data delivery and ensuring the architecture aligns with business objectives, supporting new initiatives, and enhancing existing data capabilities. You will lead architectural decisions, establish governance standards, and collaborate across teams to ensure seamless data flows and scalable solutions. We are transforming and modernizing our Azure Ecosystem, including Cloud, Data and BI Platforms to deliver modern and efficient solutions with the use of cutting-edge technologies!
Responsibilities Include:
• Working with Azure Cloud and Data Platforms, providing subject matter expertise in designing, architecting and maintaining these solutions.
• Driving the adoption and usage of Azure Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI in Azure Cloud Platforms.
• Providing technical direction and team leadership on Azure platform services, including best practices for system configurations, integration patterns, and leveraging platform features to meet business requirements.
• Ensuring work is assigned, understood and completed by the team members as per agreed timelines and in accordance with team members’ skillsets and agreed upon standards.
• Executing the required performance management requirements for your direct reports (employees) including but not limited to setting annual objects / KRAs, mid-year and year-end progress reviews, and growth conversations.
• Driving automation of platform deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks such as Terraform or Azure DevOps.
• Performing architectural assessments and define solutions to produce detailed design documents addressing complex data needs.
• Provide guidance to Data Engineering and Data Science teams on, for example, leveraging Azure platform capabilities, such as configuring SPNs for system connections, enabling monitoring/logging for pipelines, and implementing security protocols.
• Collaborating with Information Security teams to design and implement security strategies, including identity management, access control, and data encryption within the Azure platform.
• Contributing and collaborating with other architects within the Enterprise Architecture team to get required approval from Architecture Review Board for new initiatives.
Compensation:
$90.00 - $95.00 per hour
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
