Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist and Software Engineer to join our team at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's (GSFC) Advanced Software Technology Group (ASTG). As a member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying AI/ML models for NASA's Earth Systems Digital Twins (ESDTs).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, cloud computing, and software engineering. You will work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to design and develop the Coupled Reusable Earth System Tensor Framework (CREST), which aims to provide a scalable and efficient platform for ESDTs.

Responsibilities include:
• Designing and developing AI/ML models for climate and weather science.
• Implementing cloud-based infrastructure for CREST.
• Maintaining and optimizing codebase.
• Publishing research papers and presenting at conferences.

Required qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, with at least 5 years of experience in software development and AI/ML.
• Expertise in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX and ML workflows.
• Familiarity with Python ecosystem.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to meet NASA IT security requirements.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
