Python for Beginners Instructor

Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Digital Literacy Coordinator, the Digital Literacy Instructor (Python Programming) will lead an 8-week in-person or virtual class, focused on introducing adult learners to the fundamentals of Python. This hands-on course is designed for beginners with little to no prior coding experience.

Essential Functions:
The Digital Literacy Instructor (Python Programming) will:
• Design and deliver course content introducing Python programming concepts using beginner-friendly tools and activities.
• Incorporate various teaching strategies to support adult learners with different learning styles and backgrounds.
• Develop and share real-world assignments and coding projects (e.g., text-based games, basic data manipulation) to reinforce lessons.
• Prepare course materials, lesson plans, and instructional supports.
• Provide students with a clear syllabus that includes course objectives, learning outcomes, teaching methodology, assignments, timelines, and grading criteria.
• Track attendance, engagement, and assignment completion per organizational guidelines.
• Create a classroom environment rooted in growth mindset, patience, and respect.
• Attend initial orientation and ongoing check-ins with the Digital Literacy Coordinator.
• Provide feedback on program implementation and recommendations for future cohorts.
• Adhere to all department policies and guidelines concerning instructor conduct.
• Encourage student course evaluations and review feedback when available.

Qualifications:
• 3–5 years of experience teaching or tutoring adult learners in Python or computer programming (Required)
• Proven experience designing beginner-friendly curriculum and instructional materials (Required)
• Familiarity with adult learning principles and digital literacy education (Required)
• Background in online or hybrid instruction is a plus
• Degree or certification in Computer Science, Education, or related field (Preferred)

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $50.00 per hour
