Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with machine learning experience to help us build the next generation of data-driven marketing technology.
At GoAudience (Techstars NYC ’24), we leverage credit card spending data of 220M consumers to help eCommerce brands target the right customers at the right time. Once they land on brands’ websites, GoAudience creates personalized audience segments to increase checkout conversion rates by 5x.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in Node.js, TypeScript, cloud-based data pipelines, and backend systems for analytics and marketing automation. In this role, you will build and optimize backend infrastructure and microservices that process high-scale user data, integrate machine learning models for predictive insights, and power AI-driven marketing automation.

Responsibilities
• Develop & optimize scalable backend systems in Node.js & TypeScript, focusing on data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment.
• Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven systems to support data processing workflows.
• Integrate third-party data providers and APIs for user identity resolution, machine learning processing, and data enrichment.
• Work with & deploy machine learning models into backend services for predictive scoring and audience segmentation.
• Design and maintain APIs & event-driven architectures to process real-time customer data.
• Work with GCP & BigQuery to store, process, and analyze large-scale datasets.
• Build intelligent scoring models to identify high-intent website visitors and improve conversion rates.
• Ensure high system performance & reliability, optimizing backend services for cost-efficiency and scalability.
• Implement strong data security, privacy, and compliance measures.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, and frontend teams to create a seamless data-driven experience.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in code reviews, and help define backend best practices.
Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience developing backend services with Node.js & TypeScript.
• 5+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and serverless architectures.
• Experience integrating machine learning models into production environments.
• Strong background in data processing, identity resolution, and third-party API integrations.
• Expertise in SQL/NoSQL databases, data modeling, and cloud-based data pipelines.
• Deep understanding of API development, event-driven systems, and cloud computing (GCP).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and agile development methodologies.
• Passion for data-driven products, marketing automation, and AI-driven insights.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems, optimize performance, and scale services efficiently.
Nice to Have
• Experience working with ad tech, digital marketing, or analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with MLOps best practices (model deployment, versioning, and monitoring).
• Familiarity with server-side tracking, cookies, and browser fingerprinting.
• Understanding of A/B testing, personalization, and customer behavior analytics.
• Prior experience in early-stage startups, where adaptability and problem-solving are key.
