Nebula Digital is looking for a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in building large-scale personalization and recommendation models to enhance user engagement in a lifestyle app. You will be responsible for processing massive volumes of user interaction data (millions of events per day), designing state-of-the-art machine learning models, and deploying them efficiently in a cloud environment (AWS preferred, but Azure/GCP acceptable). In this role, you will work in a small team of 2–3 data scientists to develop cutting-edge MLpowered recommendations, optimize model evaluation metrics, and ensure scalability across millions of users. Responsibilities:
• Develop and deploy personalization & recommendation models to optimize user experience and engagement.
• Process and analyze large-scale user event data (millions of events per day) generated from app interactions.
• Apply advanced ML techniques, including deep learning, collaborative filtering, reinforcement learning, and hybrid recommendation approaches.
• Evaluate model performance using key ML metrics (e.g., precision, recall, MAP, AUC, RMSE, etc.) to ensure optimal results.
• Design scalable ML pipelines in the cloud (AWS preferred, but Azure/GCP also acceptable) for training, evaluation, and real-time inference.
• Collaborate with data engineers, backend engineers, and product teams to integrate models into production and continuously improve performance.
• Mentor a small team (2–3 data scientists), providing direction regarding ML work, unblocking them when required.

Requirements:

Must-Have
• Strong expertise in personalization & recommendation systems (collaborative filtering, content-based, hybrid, reinforcement learning, user clustering etc.).
• Experience with large-scale user event data processing and feature engineering.
• Proficiency in ML model evaluation metrics for recommendation systems.
• Expertise in Python & ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, etc.).

Good to Have
• Experience in real-time ML inference and streaming data processing (Kafka, Flink, Kinesis).
• Experience working with distributed data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop, Dask, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based ML deployment (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML,or Google Vertex AI).
• Experience in A/B testing and experimentation platforms for recommendation models.
• Prior work in lifestyle, mobile apps, or e-commerce domains is a plus.
• Knowledge of MLOps and CI/CD for ML models.
• Ability to lead a small team, mentor junior data scientists, and drive high-impact ML projects.
