We are seeking a skilled developer to set up a reverse proxy to seamlessly integrate our WordPress blog with our main site hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and written in Python. You should have experience with reverse proxy configurations for Wordpress, and a strong understanding of GCP and Python.

Summary:

I have a main site (www.watchcount.com) that is hosted on Google Cloud Platform. I have a subsite (articles.watchcount.com) that is a Wordpress blog hosted by Kinsta. I want to set up a reverse proxy so that watchcount.com/articles serves the content from articles.watchcount.com.

My reverse proxy is working except for /articles/wp-admin, which displays an error message about cookies. My suspicion is that my reverse proxy implementation is not handling cookies properly, but I don’t know how to fix it.

I am open to your help either fixing the reverse proxy implementation that we began, or implementing your recommended reverse proxy from scratch us nginx or another technology.

From what I’ve read, a common solution for reverse proxies is to use nginx. However, my current main site is a Python Flask app that does not use nginx. Google Cloud’s documentation for deploying a Python application on Google Cloud Run recommends using gunicorn, so that’s what I chose.

Kinsta doesn’t provide support on how to implement the reverse proxy, but they did tell me the recommended nginx configuration to use, which is this:
