Salary: $140,000 - $160,000
Active Secret Clearance Required (TS/SCI Preferred)
Position Overview
DEI is seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with extensive experience in Department of Defense (DoD) IT systems, commercial cloud technologies, and Zero Trust Architecture. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical knowledge, coupled with strong executive communication and presentation skills, particularly using Microsoft PowerPoint, to engage stakeholders at all levels. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge IT solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of DoD missions.
Key Responsibilities
• Architectural Leadership:
• Design secure, scalable, and mission-aligned IT solutions for DoD environments.
• Lead architecture efforts for hybrid and multi-cloud environments, integrating commercial cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Develop and apply Zero Trust Architecture principles to enhance security and compliance.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with senior DoD leadership, contractors, and stakeholders to understand mission requirements and align IT solutions with operational goals.
• Communicate complex technical solutions in clear, executive-level presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Act as a trusted advisor on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices.
• Technical Expertise:
• Provide guidance on the adoption of commercial cloud solutions, including migration strategies, security configurations, and operational efficiencies.
• Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems, ensuring alignment with DoD standards and frameworks such as NIST and DISA STIGs.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation, roadmaps, and playbooks for IT deployments.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with cybersecurity teams to ensure solutions adhere to Zero Trust principles, including identity and access management (IAM), micro-segmentation, and continuous monitoring.
• Partner with DevSecOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines and agile practices into cloud and on-premise environments.
• Mentor technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
• Security Clearance Active Secret minimum. TS/SCI preferred
• Education: Masters Degree in related area (IT) or 6 years related experience
• Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in DoD IT environments, including system architecture, networking, cloud and hosting environments.
• Writing technical reference architecture and design documents
• Demonstrated expertise in commercial cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong understand and experience with Zero Trust Architecture principles, frameworks, and tools.

• Strong Visio and PowerPoint
• Soft Skills:
• Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling PowerPoint presentations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
• Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders in high-pressure environments.
Desired Qualifications
• Industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
• Experience in DevSecOps environments, including tools like GitLab, Jenkins, and Docker.
