Location: Downtown_Boston, MA

Overview:

We are seeking experienced and dynamic Java Backend Developers to join the technology team of a renowned insurance client. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Java development, backend architecture, and API integration, as well as experience in the insurance domain. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems and applications that drive innovation in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Development:

Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.

Implement business logic and integrate with external systems (e.g., databases, third-party APIs, and other enterprise applications).

Build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend solutions to support insurance business processes.

System Architecture & Design:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including front-end developers, product managers, and business analysts) to design software solutions.

Participate in architecture discussions, including selecting frameworks, tools, and technologies best suited for the solution.

Contribute to the development and improvement of the overall system architecture and infrastructure.

Skills and Qualifications:

Core Technical Skills:

Strong expertise in Java, including object-oriented programming, concurrency, and data structures.

Experience with Spring Boot and related frameworks (Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).

Hands-on experience with RESTful API design and integration.

Familiarity with microservices architecture and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka.

Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).

Familiar with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).

Domain Knowledge:

Prior experience in the insurance industry (either Life, Health, Property & Casualty, etc.) is highly preferred.

Understanding of insurance-related data, business processes, and regulations (e.g., claims processing, underwriting, policy management).

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, Agile environment.

Excellent communication skills to interact with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Certifications: Relevant certifications in Java, Spring, Cloud computing, or Agile methodologies.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in Java backend development, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.

Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
