FMP is currently seeking a User Interface (UI) Associate to join our growing team.

As a UI Associate at FMP, you will have the unique opportunity to:
• Conduct design activities aimed at bringing together user needs, business needs, and technical capabilities to create a cohesive and intuitive end user experience.
• Plan and facilitate human-centered design research activities (e.g., usability testing, interviews, ideation sessions, workshops) on user needs to inform product direction and validate design decisions.
• Develop wireframes or prototypes of potential system functionality to share with stakeholder groups to aid in usability testing or collect user feedback.
• Collaborate with the internal and external design, marketing, and communications teams to develop and implement design standards, processes, and guidelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve process and culture around design (e.g., cross-team features, process improvements, and standardization of research methods).
• Collaborate with design and product teams to encourage shared processes, tools, and design principles.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
• All applicants must be US citizens
• A degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
• A minimum of seven years of experience in UI/UX research and design

Design Skills
• Ability to design low-to-high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes
• A strong grasp of color theory, typography, and layout
• Ability to work with development teams to create, iterate, and deliver design specifications for product development
• Proficiency in designing interfaces and developing design recommendations based on technology restraints, feedback from users, and evolving product goals.
• Ability to create and maintain a Design System.

Technical Proficiency
• Ability to design and present interactive mockups and prototypes of varying fidelity using tools such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, React, Blazor, Axure, Adobe Cloud, or other industry standard tools.
• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Working in the Azure environment (e.g., Azure Open AI)
• Application development using PowerAutomate and/or AI applications

User-Centered Design
• Experience using human-centered design (HCD) approaches to perform requirements gathering and understand user needs and behavior.
• Experience leading user research activities (e.g., usability testing, interviews, ideation sessions, workshops) and presenting recommendations based on findings.
• Ability to write scripts for interviews and usability testing.
• Ability to develop user personas based on research.
• Skills in mapping out user journeys and designing seamless user flows.

Preferred Qualifications

Federal Experience
• Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and other federal guidelines related to web accessibility.
• A basic understanding of the federal security standards that pertain to web interfaces.
• Experience working with federal agencies or contractors and understanding their specific requirements and processes.
