Responsibilities

• As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for technical solution design, coding, and modifications of the Nielsen corporate website to achieve business goals and objectives
• Develop custom plugins, themes, and functionality using PHP for WordPress, ensuring scalability, security, and performance optimization
• Develop and maintain frontend components using React.js and Alpine.js to enhance user interfaces and interactivity
• Integrate third-party services and APIs (SAP, PayPal, Stripe) to WordPress to meet the growing needs of the business
• Work collaboratively with website designers, product managers, and web strategists to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Ability to evaluate, recommend, and integrate third-party services like WordPress VIP and Weglot
• Troubleshoot and resolve website issues
• Perform regular updates and maintenance on the website
• Identify and execute solutions to continually improve website performance and functionality
• Implement security best practices to mitigate risks and protect Nielsen.com from vulnerabilities

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of WordPress, theme development, plugin customization, and best practices for WordPress site optimization
• ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESRequires independent problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of managing competing priorities, including feature development and timely bug resolutions
• Proficient in WordPress Block Editor/Gutenberg development using JavaScript and React
• Experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM) and data layers, with expertise in implementing tracking and analytics solutions
• SKILLS REQUIRED3+ years of experience in WordPress development
• Experienced in Gutenberg Block development, custom plugin creation, FSE block theme, and WordPress API integration
• Experience with React.js and Alpine.js for frontend development
• Strong PHP skills with expertise in frameworks, OOP, and database management
• Experience working in the WordPress VIP development ecosystem
• Experience in maintaining Dataviz systems integrating Google Sheets, WordPress REST API, and Chart.js, ensuring seamless data visualization and scalability
• Proficient in frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and JavaScript Frameworks
• Nice to have expertise in WooCommerce development (themes, plugins, APIs)
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
• Version control and continuous integration using tools such as GitHub and CircleCI
• Knowledge of website accessibility standards
