Grand River Solutions is looking for an experienced part-time Web Developer to lead the redesign of our WordPress website. This project will involve eliminating reliance on the Divi theme and ensuring full compliance with WCAG 2.2 A/AA digital accessibility standards—without the use of plugins or overlays. The primary responsibility will be to develop a streamlined, high-performance website that prioritizes accessibility, usability, and long-term maintainability.
In addition to the initial rebuild, this individual will play a key role in optimizing the website's performance, security, and integration with our lead tracking systems (HubSpot CRM), training registration platforms, and more.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in both front-end and back-end development, UX/UI best practices, digital accessibility, and SEO, as well as a data-driven approach to website performance. They will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure the website supports marketing, branding, business development, sales, and client engagement initiatives, while also maintaining analytics and KPI tracking.

• In consultation with internal stakeholders, develop a strategy, and long-term vision for the website experience and any related initiatives.
• Maintain the roadmap and manage the product life cycle of website projects and user experience.
• Maintain front-end and back-end website development consistent with WCAG 2.2 A/AA standards without using a plugin or widget.
• Create custom coding solutions, as needed and appropriate, for the website, using programming languages such as HTML, XML, CSS3, JavaScript, responsive design, and jQuery.
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages.
• Maintain well-documented, reusable, and transferable code.
• Implement, monitor, update, backup, troubleshoot, and maintain plugins on the backend of WordPress regularly, upholding industry standards and best practices.
• Ensure website security by implementing best practices for data protection, secure coding, and WordPress hardening. Regularly audit for vulnerabilities, manage updates, and comply with industry security standards.
• Work with Director of Brand Identity, Design & Communications to utilize a multimedia approach sourcing and creating audio, video, and visual aids to enhance the look of the website.
• Create and test applications, interfaces, draft pages, and navigation menus for website.
• Work with Director of Brand Identity, Design & Communications to develop hierarchies of information that improve the user experience utilizing best information architecture principles and research.
• Work with Director of Brand Identity, Design & Communications to integrate graphics, audio, and video into the website to improve the user experience.
• Analyze website traffic to determine the effectiveness of projects, progress, and user experience changes. Track and report KPIs to the Director of Marketing per their determination.
• Anticipate changes within the digital marketing and related industries, and recommend solutions /enhancements to internal stakeholders for future web optimizations
• Conduct website performance tests, troubleshoot errors and areas for improvement and provide recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Utilize Chrome inspector tools, firebug, search engine analysis tools, and other software where applicable to evaluate live website performance across browsers.
• Optimize website speed, structure, and metadata for search engine performance, ensuring adherence to SEO best practices and Core Web Vitals.
• Use version control (e.g., Git) and structured deployment workflows to manage website updates, ensuring reliability and rollback capabilities.
• Collaborate with customer support, tech support, and other developer support teams where applicable for WordPress maintenance and plugin support.
• Assist with various digital accessibility requests such as checking and adapting pdf documents and InDesign documents.
• Develop and maintain API integrations between the website and third-party platforms, including HubSpot, CRM, analytics tools, and other systems.
• Optimize the website's backend to ensure seamless data capture and tracking in HubSpot, including proper tagging, event tracking, and form integrations. Implement best practices for data accuracy, lead attribution, and performance monitoring to support marketing and sales efforts. Troubleshoot and resolve any tracking or integration issues.

• Demonstrates an understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements for higher education, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Web Content

Salary
GRS has different base pay ranges for different locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistent with different geographic markets. Compensation offered will depend on various factors in addition to location of primary residence, such as job level, complexity and responsibility required by the role, knowledge, job duties and requirements, relevant experience, and skills.
Pay Ranges for Applicants in CA, CO, and WA
The pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City is $40,000 - $55,000. For those who are elsewhere in California, the range is $40,000 - $55,000. For those based in Colorado, the range is $40,000 - $55,000. For those based in Washington State, the range is $40,000- $55,000. As noted above, all of these pay ranges depend upon specific location, knowledge, relevant experience, background, and skills.
