About the Company

Our client is a value-added reseller and full-service distributor of short-run digital label printing equipment via an eCommerce website. This company is based in Houston, Texas, and has been in operation for over 20 years. This Company is seeking a WordPress and WooCommerce Software Engineer to welcome to our fun and growing team.
• *Office Location: Northwest Houston near Cypress - NO HYBRID OR REMOTE WORK
• *Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000 DOE

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress and WooCommerce sites, themes, and plugins.
• Implement new features and functionalities while ensuring high-performance and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.
• Collaborate with the design team to ensure technical feasibility and to optimize web designs for maximum speed and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WordPress and WooCommerce sites.
• Conduct website performance tests and implement necessary changes to meet security and speed requirements.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements for existing projects.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet business requirements and objectives.

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements
• At least 3+ years of Wordpress and WooCommerce software/plugin and theme (or child theme) (design) development experience is required
• Advanced/strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and MySQL Database
• Both frontend and backend development is preferred
• Familiarity with GitHub to collaborate with remote (outsourced) development team, setting up a local test environment and ability to thoroughly test and debug projects prior to deployment.
• Familiarity with Kinsta web hosting is preferred but not required
• Familiarity Wordpress optimizations
• Degree in Computer Science (or related field) is required
• Experience with Search Engine Optimization is preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with custom REST APIs and web service integration
• Familiarity with website optimization tools and SEO principles
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development process

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
• Climate controlled office environment
• Extended periods of time working at a computer and on the phone
• Must be able to sit at a desk for the majority of an 8 hour working day
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs., periodically
• Must be able to comfortably and independently stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and lift items
• Must be willing to consent to the company’s standard background check
• Ability to arrive on-time each day (M–F) at the company office located in Houston, 77095
