Job Description

Responsibilities

• Platform: WordPress + WooCommerce
• Safely migrate from Yoast SEO to Rank Math SEO
• Clean up and optimize XML sitemaps to prevent thin/low-value pages from being indexed
• Improve Google’s crawl efficiency by removing unnecessary taxonomy URLs and controlling sitemap priorities
• Migrate Yoast SEO to Rank Math
• Fully uninstall Yoast and install Rank Math SEO (Free or Pro—we'll cover Pro if needed)
• Use Rank Math’s migration wizard to import all settings, titles, meta data, and schema
• Manually verify and correct any mismatches in title/meta/SERP settings post-import
• Reconfigure search appearance settings to match or improve upon our Yoast config
• Sitemap and Indexing Optimization
• Audit current sitemap and:
• Exclude low-value taxonomies from sitemap (e.g. post_tag, product_tag, possibly author)
• Remove or noindex thin content pages (low-content tags/categories, duplicate brand pages)
• Split large product sitemaps if exceeding best practices for sitemap size
• Customize sitemap priority and frequency settings using Rank Math’s tools
• Ensure image sitemaps are being generated and included
• Configure noindex tags where appropriate (thin taxonomies, archives)
• Submit new sitemap to GSC and monitor initial indexing results
• Run URL Inspection on key pages and recommend improvements

• Review internal linking structure for orphaned pages
• Recommend SEO improvements for product descriptions or templated content

Requirements

• Must be tested on a staging environment before going live
