Job Description
We are a community newspaper in the process of digitizing our print archives and need reliable freelancers to help transfer print articles into our WordPress platform.
Project Details:
• You'll be working from PDF files of our original print editions. We will assign you specific files from https://www.hillandlakepress.org/archive
• Your task will be to accurately transcribe and format the articles in those files as WordPress posts.
• Advertisements should not be transferred—only editorial content. You’ll be given a sample file so that you can understand the difference between ads and articles.
• Each post must be tagged with the correct month and year of original publication.
• The Images in the PDFs are not high-resolution; instead, you'll use a standard placeholder image for each post (the placeholder image is attached to this posting).
• Format headlines as H1 and any subheadings in the article as H2 or H3 for SEO structure.
What We're Looking For:
• Strong attention to detail. We do not want to have to double-check people’s work frequently :-)
• Basic familiarity with WordPress
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to follow instructions
