Client: North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR)
Work Address: Raleigh, NC

Job Description:

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) has an immediate need for an experienced PHP and WordPress Developer to support the restoration and stabilization of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) website. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues related to WordPress functionality, ensuring site stability, and providing short-term maintenance recommendations. The role requires immediate availability and the potential for a small extension to complete the work if needed.

Key Responsibilities:
• Website Access Restoration: Diagnose and repair issues related to the missing WordPress login PHP file, restoring login functionality for administrative and content management access.
• Static Pages Restoration: Identify and resolve issues preventing updates to static portions of the website, ensuring the ability to make live changes.
• Codebase Stabilization: Review the website's custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations. Apply necessary fixes to stabilize the codebase and ensure ongoing website functionality.
• Content Management Support: Make minor updates to improve website navigation and usability for the public, where feasible, to enhance content management.
• Short-Term Maintenance Recommendations: Provide recommendations for maintaining the website’s operability in the short term, including critical updates and proactive monitoring to prevent further issues.
• Documentation: Document all repairs, temporary fixes, and recommendations to ensure the NCMNS team can maintain functionality and address future minor issues.

Qualifications:
• Extensive experience with PHP Development: 5+ years (Required)
• Experience with WordPress Development: 5+ years (Required)
• Experience reviewing and diagnosing issues related to missing WordPress login PHP files: 5+ years (Required)
• Experience restoring login functionality for administrative and content management access: 5+ years (Required)
• Ability to identify and fix problematic custom PHP code, outdated plugins, and legacy configurations contributing to instability: 5+ years (Required)
• Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to assess and repair technical issues with WordPress and PHP code, including troubleshooting and debugging.

Preferred Skills:
• Strong communication skills to work with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to provide clear documentation and recommendations for ongoing site maintenance.
