We need someone who is able to create a WordPress full site editing theme and Gutenberg blocks. The person should also be able to work with Github together with other people for this work. Therefore good skills with CSS (Sass), Github, JavaScript (ES6), PHP (to be able to work with WordPress) and WordPress are needed. New Gutenberg blocks will need to be built. We also want to be in direct contact with only this person and not talk with anyone else as communications skills are also important for this job as collaborations happens via Github.

People often have skills with CSS but not with Sass or they know Github and Git but can't work with others over it or they know Elementor, WPBakery, custom themes with ACF etc. but not Full Site Editing themes and how to build Gutenberg blocks. While all these skills with WordPress are good and can be needed later, they are not needed for the beginning of this job as in the beginning of this job the work is about a big (but simple) WordPress site built with a full site editing theme and Gutenberg blocks.

Who are we?

We are a small team of independent freelancers primarily serving German clients. We search a technical partner. We understand that anyone can not know anything but specific skills for this job outlined above and below are needed from the beginning on.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and execute web development projects for clients.

• Be a technical expert during client calls, providing clear and quick answers to their technical questions when necessary.

• Take full ownership of the technical side of projects from start to finish, including requirements gathering, development, and deployment.

• Collaborate with other freelance developers when project workload exceeds your capacity.

• Ensure high-quality, functional, and responsive websites that meet client expectations.

• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during development.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in WordPress and WordPress development and the ability to personally handle the technical tasks

• Ability to work with Gutenberg blocks and full-site editing themes in WordPress

• Strong knowledge of modern web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS and SCSS, JavaScript (ES6), PHP for WordPress, WordPress, etc.)

• Ability to implement a design from Figma without the need to be told about differences between Figma and the website. (IMPORTANT: If there is a design in Figma, then the website shall look exactly like the design in Figma and not have different font sizes, different spacings etc.)

• Ability to work with other partners together via GitHub and communicate with them

• Ability to provide accurate technical feedback during client calls

• Excellent communication skills in English

• A strong emphasis on attention to detail, reliability, and a steadfast commitment to meeting agreed-upon deadlines is essential. The expectation is straightforward: if you commit to something, you must follow through. If you're unable to meet the commitment, it's better NOT TO MAKE IT AT ALL. For instance, if you say you complete the "About Us" page by Friday, it should be ready by Friday, not delayed until Monday.

We do not want to hear empty assurances like "Yes, I can do everything" or "Yes, I will handle this," only for it to later turn out that it’s not the case. This type of behavior, often seen on platforms like Upwork, is unacceptable.
