Ministry Overview

Since 1979, Insight for Living (IFL) has been committed to excellence in teaching the study and application of God’s Word. Pastor Chuck Swindoll and his wife, Cynthia, began the ministry by broadcasting Pastor Chuck’s Bible-teaching program, Insight for Living, on 18 stations. Today, the program airs on more than 2,000 stations, can be streamed through various online channels, and can be heard in 70 countries and eight languages.

We also produce quality Bible-study resources, have a dynamic online presence, provide pastoral counseling, and actively walk alongside listeners through life’s challenges. As a ministry, we’re committed to Vision 195, our strategic mission to pursue Jesus’ Great Commission by extending God’s grace and making disciples in all 195 countries and their 6,875 heart languages.

In addition to our international headquarters in Frisco, Texas, we currently have ministry offices in 10 countries, where our pastors translate resources, train church leaders to use Pastor Chuck’s Searching the Scriptures Bible-study methods, serve their communities, and pursue Vision 195 in their languages. Contractor Role Overview

The Web Developer (Contractor) will develop and further enhance all IFL websites. The scope of work for the role includes updating and maintaining our main website, international websites, and importing digital content into WordPress. This contractor role includes up to 40 billable hours per calendar week and requires a hybrid schedule of three days in-person at IFL’s Frisco, TX, facility to fulfill the contractual needs.

Essential Beliefs

The Web Developer contractor must be in full agreement with and sign the IFL Essential Beliefs, Core Values, Personal Conduct, and Model for Excellence documents.

Core Functions
• Develops new WordPress website
• Migrates current digital content into WordPress
• Manages, develops, and deploys WordPress plugins including writing and deploying custom plugins, themes, and custom post types
• Helps manage international websites

Experience and Qualifications
• 3–5 years’ WordPress experience including development experience of new themes, custom post types, custom functions, use of the WordPress API
• 3–5 years’ PHP experience
• 3–5 years’ JavaScript experience using frameworks to support WordPress theme development (React, jQuery, etc.)
• 3–5 years’ MySQL experience with the WordPress schema
• 3–5 years’ experience with HTML and CSS and responsive web design
• 3–5 years’ Linux administration of WordPress servers and usage of the WP CLI, preferred
• 3–5 years’ WooCommerce experience, preferred
• 1–2 years’ Sitefinity CMS experience, preferred
• 1–2 years’ experience with RSS, preferred
• Must submit a portfolio of existing websites and role in the site creation
